Another Delayed Entry..

Another delayed entry

Last Friday, August 26, something nerve-wracking happened to me. Of all the days! It was the eve of the ALCGC Organization Day where I would be representing the company (EGMPC) as the muse. It was a contest so there was pressure on me. GREAT pressure. Ma'am Lizzie was on sick leave (she was feeling dizzy) so I was asked to draft this letter for Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales and Cardinal Vidal, to be signed by ALC. I finished the draft early, at around 10 am since Ma'am Linda, ALC's executive secretary, would take the afternoon off.
After lunch I remembered that Ma'am Lizzie was supposed to attend this "Super" Executive Committee Meeting (ExCom). "Super" because the super top executives would be there, including the Cabangons. Then I remembered Ma'am Lizzie telling me that in case she could not attend, I would be her replacement. This Super ExCom is usually held on Saturdays, but since there was going to be an event that Saturday, it was scheduled on Friday.
I thought ma'am Lizzie would let me pass on this one since I had to have my "beauty rest", plus I really had no idea on what to do. Unfortunately, when I asked her what I should report, she enumerated it, confirming that I wasn't exempted. I wanted to faint but instead I drafted a short, and I mean short, report.
After finishing the draft, I went with Edwin and Vinz to Landmark. They were going to get the company's gift for ALC and I was going to but a pair of sandals for the Org. Day.
Here's the bust: while we were already paying for the sandals, one of my officemates called Edwin on his cellphone and told him that ALC was looking for me! I panicked, kasi nagmumura na raw sya. I didn't know what to do talaga. That was the only time that I left the office tapos nun pa ko hinanap. Malas talaga. When I got back to the office, the other assistant was the one to talk to me. May pinapabago lang pala dun sa letter. Since I was still shaking from being so tensed, it took me about five attempts before I got what he wanted right. Darn it! at hindi pa dun natapos. Later that night I attended the ExCom meeting nga. I was afraid he would scold me during the meeting but it looked like he didn't know me. Buti na lang…
During the meeting (while ALC was still busy with other things in his office) , the executives of the other companies were teasing me, leaving remarks that I should attend the ExCom more often, sana palaging may sakit si Lizzie, things like that. Good thing I wasn't pikon so I handled their jokes well.
Poor Paul waited for me for hours again. He was a little pissed because we had plans that afternoon but still, he patiently waited for me.
The next day hinatid nya pa ko dun sa venue. But he did not stay because he had classes. He just picked me up later that day, after the celebration. We went to Shang and watch "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants". It was a nice movie. I liked Carmen's story the most kasi sya yung pinaka parang kawawa. I really hate it when someone's not treated well by his family.
While walking around Shang, the people were probably thinking that Paul and I were on a date since I was holding this bouquet of flowers, which was one of my prizes for being the "best muse". Yes, I won out of 17 ladies. It was so overwhelming because everyone in the office was so proud of me, especially ma'am Lizzie who even kissed me on my left cheek. Oh well, I still don't understand why God is still so good to me despite my being 'bad' these days…

Pleasant Surprise
ivee

Life never fails to surprise me. I was trying my best to cope with what was left with my previous salary, at least until tomorrow, when the great news reached me. we were going to get our pay slips today, yipee! What a pleasant surprise! Everyone in the office became ecstatic upon hearing the news.

*The past week has been really stressful for me. I was on OB last Saturday and Sunday to cover the events for the Philippine World Youth Day celebration. I interviewed Fr. Robert Reyes, yup, the running priest, since he was leading the youth marathon. That "encounter" really changed my impression on him.

Despite being a priest, his personality was kind of negative. He is often referred to as "the activist priest" or "the militant" priest but while listening to his sermon, I realized that he is not so negative after all.

He's not only active in searching for the truth and saving this country from the political sh*t that it's in, he also fights against cruelty to animals, he's an environmentalist, and a vegetarian. Total clean living. Can you believe he's already 50? Ikaw ba naman manakbo nang manakbo sa buong Pilipinas noh!

Another thing that's to admire about Fr. Robert is his courage. He knows that with what he has been doing, the possibility of him being assassinated is not remote. He could be shot right there and then but he didn't care. He is not afraid to die..he is ready.

Point of coolness: he drives a jeep (something that looks like a jimny but less fancy) with the windows down. Tapang talaga!

I was almost shaking while interviewing him so I'm not sure if I wrote down everything important that he said (I really really need that recorder!). I was so overwhelmed.

Trivia: he and my mom graduated from the same high school in Malabon (St. James) and my mom and his sister were classmates. Didn't have time to ask him about that because he was in a hurry to run.

Geesh. I woke up really early for that marathon. I left the house at 5 a.m..pero di naman ako tumakbo!

Since we were in the area, we decided to visit the Big Brother House, hehehe. It isn't as big as it appears on TV pala…but it's cute.

Another busy weekend coming up. I have to attend this concert (still part of the Philippine WYD celebration) on Saturday..

Hopefully after this Paul and I get to spend more time together… can't wait to go malling!!!

** er, i made this entry yesterday...
